Paper Pumpkin Alternate Project – December 2020

The December 2020 Paper Pumpkin Beary Comforting Kit is designed to uplift your loved ones as this beary tough year finally comes to a close. After a year like 2020, we all could use a big bear hug! With the help of this bear-themed kit, you can create 12 unbearably cute cards featuring warm and fuzzy friends, sweet stamps, and meaningful messages. The Coordinating colors for this month’s kit are: Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Cinnamon Cider, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Sea Foam, and Whisper White.

I’m a bit late posting an alternate card as the holidays seemed extra busy. But, I’m now back on track and ready to share! This month I went back to challenging myself to create new looks using minimal additional supplies. The intent is to show customers that they don’t have to use lots of extra supplies and tools to create new looks. My alternate project is a full sized card. I used a recent sketch challenge for a new layout that I think really worked well with the cardstock from the kit.

I started with using the striped card base from the kit, but I used the solid Soft Sea Foam side as the card front. Using another card, I cut a 4″ x 5 1/2″ piece from the striped side. From the Rich Razzleberry card, I cut a 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece from the patterned side and a 2″ x 5 1/2″ piece from the solid side. I attached the 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ patterned piece to left side of the striped 4″ x 5 1/2″ piece. Then, that layered piece was adhered to the front of the card base leaving 1/4″ of Soft Sea Foam showing on the fold side. The 2″ x 5 1/2″ solid Rich Razzleberry piece was dry embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. (You could skip that step and use the piece without embossing it.) I wrapped a piece of the gold twine from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack around the 2″ x 5 1/2″ piece and tied it into a square knot. The piece with twine was attached to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals leaving 1/4″ of the patterned Rich Razzleberry on the left hand side.

The sentiment was stamped on the plain side of rectangle piece using the ink spot that was included and I cut it down to fit closely around the stamped images. I used some Soft Seafoam ink to blend color onto the plain side of a circle piece from the kit. The Koalas were separated and I trimmed the excess white from around the Koala image. The branch and leaves were cut with the Pierced Blooms Dies from Old Olive card stock. First, I adhered the leaves and branch to the circle piece, then I attached the Koala using Stampin’ Dimensionals. That whole piece, in turn, was attached to the card front also using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Lastly, the sentiment was attached using two Stampin’ dimensionals. You could skip the branch, leaves, and the circle altogether and just have the Koala hold flowers or the cupcake.

What’s Paper Pumpkin? Paper Pumpkin is a monthly crafting subscription. The box you receive each month contains all the materials you need to craft with ease, from adhesive to precut paper. All you need to do is follow the crafting instructions and assemble the pieces to create a Stampin’ Up! card or project.

This subscription box also doubles as a STAMP subscription box. Every month, as part of your subscription, you’ll receive a unique, decorative stamp set and at least one ink spot. The stamp sets are ideal for all types of crafting projects. Plus, Paper Pumpkin doesn’t repeat an ink color in a 12-month period, so you’ll quickly collect a variety of reusable stamps and ink spots.
