Paper Pumpkin Alternate Project- August 2020

The August 2020 Paper Pumpkin World’s Greatest Kit was created to help you celebrate our everyday heroes. These are people who are all around us: teachers, doctors, hairdressers, nurses, delivery workers, cashiers, and even our friends, kids, and family members go above and beyond to enrich our lives. The kit contains the supplies to make nine cards with coordinating envelopes; three each of three designs. Coordinating colors for this month’s kit are: Bumblebee, gold, Mint Macaron, Pacific Point, Soft Suede, white.

When thinking about what I would like to do for my alternate card this month, I had a couple of ideas come to mind. So, I ended up making two alternate cards. The first card I came up with by just playing around with different elements and the placement of those items. The second one came from some inspiration that I found on Facebook. In this Facebook post, Christine Versluis shared her technique for using up her scraps and leftovers. She calls the technique Art Strips. I love it! You should seriously look this up because her Art Strip cards are amazing.

Both of these cards can be made using ONLY what is supplied in the kit. I happened to use Pacific Point cardstock for the base of my first card, but I could have used the white card base from the kit. Then, I cut down the Pacific Point plaid to use on the card front. The medal ribbon image is fussy cut and the vellum elements were cut down.

For my Art Strip card I cut a strip of the Mint Macaron plaid for the card front and stamped my sentiment just below. The rest of the card was just throwing on different elements and fussy cut images and shapes. It was really so easy and I love the look!
