Around the World on Wednesday – June 2025
Welcome to June’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! The Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Team is hopping today. This month’s theme is “Outside the Box”. For our third month celebrating the blog hop’s fifth anniversary, we are CAS(e)ing alumni member, Mikaela Titheridge. Mikaela Titheridge creates amazing projects showcasing her skill for crafting “Outside the Box”.
Today I have CAS(E)ed a project she made that included “grunging up a matting layer tone on tone”. My card features the Happy Hibiscus Photopolymer Stamp Set and is embellished with some Linen Thread and Strawberry Slush & Pretty In Pink Gems. The color palette used is Cloud Cover, Secret Sea, Real Red, and Garden Green.
I created my grunged mat layer by adding some Cloud Cover ink using a blending brush around the outside of the Cloud Cover mat layer, stamping the cross hatch stamp included in the Happy Hibiscus Stamp Set using Cloud Cover ink, flicking some Secret Sea ink from a Stampin’ Write Marker and crumpling up the cardstock a bit.
The photo doesn’t quite capture this, but there’s a little extra shimmer added to both the watercolored florals and the mat layer. To achieve this, I flicked Wink of Stella over the top of them. When adding the Linen thread used for my bow, I first colored it using the Secret Sea Stampin’ Write Marker.
