Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop – May 2023
Welcome to the May 2023 Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop! This month’s theme is “Sketch Challenge”. Today the Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop Team will be sharing their Sketch Challenge inspiration with you.
My project this month is a Birthday card. I had a hard time with this particular sketch and ended up with a design based on a very loose interpretation of the sketch. My card features the Artistically Inked Cling Stamp Set, Artistic Dies, Alphabet A La Mode Dies, and the Hello Irresistible Designer Series Paper. My color palette is: Lost Lagoon, Basic Black and Basic White.
Paper Supplies:
- 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock, scored and folded at 4 1/4″ (card base)
- 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock (card front)
- 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Designer Series Paper
- 1 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock (banner base)
- Basic Black cardstock scrap
- Basic White cardstock scraps
- Lost Lagoon cardstock scraps
The prep: I started by die cutting letters with the Alphabet A La Mode Dies from Basic White cardstock scraps to spell “HAPPY”; two for each letter in word and glued them together to get double the thickness. Then I attached each letter to the banner base and snipped the end to create the banner shape. I also die cut leaves with the Artistic Dies from the Lost Lagoon cardstock scraps. The Birthday sentiment was heat embossed using Versamark and white embossing powder on a piece of Basic Black cardstock scrap and trimmed to my desired size.
Putting it all together: I adhered the card front piece to the card base. I attached the leaves to opposite corners using Mini Glue Dots. On the other corners, I roughed up the edges. Then I attached the DSP piece to the front at an angle using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The banner piece was attached to the card front with one Stampin’ Dimensional on the left and with liquid glue where it layered on top of the DSP. A Linen Thread bow was attached with a mini glue dot, then the sentiment was attached over the bow using more Stampin’ Dimensionals. To complete the card, I attached a few adhesive-backed sequins.
