Around the World on Wednesday – December 2022
Welcome to December’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme for December is “Something New/Something Used”. In this challenge, we are tasked with creating a project that includes an item that we have never used before and one item that we have used before.
My project this month is a Thank You card. You can never have too many of these. My card features the new, and not yet available, Fragrant Flowers Bundle; the Fragrant Flowers Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Fragrant Flowers Dies from the new January – April 2023 Mini Catalog. I also used a new product from the upcoming SALE-a-bration catalog, Favored Flowers 12×12 Designer Series Paper (DSP). The product I used that I have used before are currently my very favorite embellishments, the Elegant Faceted Gems. The color palette for my project is: Smoky Slate, Calypso Coral, Basic Black and Basic White.
Paper Supplies:
- 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Smoky Slate cardstock, scored and folded at 4 1/4″ (card base)
- 4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White cardstock
- 4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock
- Scrap of Favored Flowers DSP
- Scrap of Basic Black cardstock
The Prep:
- Die cut a rectangle from the 4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Dies (card front)
- Using a Blender Brush, brush Calypso Coral onto the card front creating an ombré effect
- Using the small embossing die from the Fragrant Flowers Dies emboss opposite corners of the card front piece
- Stamp the large floral image on the 4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock and die cut it out
- Die cut two large leaves from a scrap of the Favored Flowers DSP
- Stamp the sentiment using Versamark on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and heat emboss it with white embossing powder, trim to desired size
Putting it all together:
- Attach the card front piece to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals
- With Multi Purpose Liquid Glue, attach the large leaves to the back of the floral piece
- Attach the floral piece to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Attach the sentiment on top of the floral image with mini Black Stampin’ Dimensionals, one on the left where it attaches to the floral piece and two layered on the right where it attaches to the card front.
- Add Elegant Faceted Gems

oooo I love this … your choice of colour, your blending and I love the die cut element from DSP behind your focal flowers. Gorgeous card x
Thank you Mikaela!
Very nice. I love your shading, nice job.
Thanks so much Wanda!
The contrast of the beautifully blended background and the black and white imagery is really striking, Another lovely project, Teri!
Thank you Jan!
Very nice card ! I love this set so much – which unfortunately is not translated into French – and your card has given me an idea, I’m going to start working on it! – Thank you!
Thank you Aurélie! I can’t wait to see what you do with your idea!
The floral image stamped in black looks great. My first impression when I saw it in the catalogue was that it was too busy but I love how you have just brought it back to let the image stand out. x
Stunning card design. Love this color combination and the wonderful layers and textures.
