Around the World on Wednesday – April 2022
Welcome to April’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme this month is “At the Market”, with a specific focus on challenging ourselves to create something that has inspired us from the fashion world, home goods, local markets and/or eateries. I can’t wait to see what has inspired our team!
I was inspired by my favorite market, the Farmers Markets. I just love all the fresh fruits and vegetables that you can find there. My AWOW project this month features the Eclectic Garden Photopolymer Stamp Set. The project is actually a set of 3″ x 3″ mini cards with 3 similar layouts, but with different images. The colors used on my projects are: Basic White, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Night of Navy, Real Red, and Highland Heather.
The Prep: I started by cutting my card bases; 3″ x 6″, scored at 3″ and folded. The DSP was cut into 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ squares, then I roughed up the edges. For each card I cut ten 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ strips from Crumb Cake card stock. The strips were weaved, secured by tear tape on the back, and the edges trimmed. The images were stamped by applying ink from Stampin’ Write markers directly to the stamps ensuring my desired colors were placed appropriately. Once stamped, I used a Blender Pen to fill image with color and was fussy cut the image. Finally, I heat embossed my sentiment with Versamark and white embossing powder and cut it to my desired shape.
Putting it all together: I attached the DSP to the card base with Stampin’ Seal, then removed the backing of the Tear Tape from the weaved piece and attached it to the DSP. The fussy cut images were attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the sentiments were attached with a combination of Stampin’ Seal and Stampin’ Dimensionals. (The Dimensionals was placed on the end of the sentiment over the weaved piece.) The final touch was to add the Polished Dots.
