Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop – March 2022
Welcome to the March 2022 Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop! This month’s theme is “Embossing Techniques” and we are sharing creative ways to use different embossing techniques; dry, paste, or heat. We all have our favorite technique and maybe we’ll even use a combination!
My project this month involves two different embossing techniques; paste and heat. Heat embossing is my “go to” for most of the sentiments I add to cards. For me, it just adds a little polish. My paste embossing involved creating my own template instead of using a decorative mask. This month’s card features the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle, the Kite Delight stamp set, the Basic Border Dies, and the Cloud Punch. My color palette is Basic White, Basic Black, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and Poppy Parade.
The prep: I started by creating my template for the paste embossed rainbow by using the large rainbow die and cut out the shape from Basic White cardstock. The negative was used as the template and I paste embossed the rainbow with Shimmery White Embossing Paste onto another piece of Basic White cardstock. The embossed rainbow was cut down to 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ once it was dry. I cut another template with the cloud border die from a piece of Basic White cardstock. Using the die cut cloud border I applied Pool Party ink with a blender brush in layers to create the look of a cloud filled sky. With the Cloud Punch, I punched a cloud from the cloud filled sky piece. I stamped the sun image with the sun stamp from the Kite Delight stamp set in Daffodil Delight ink on a piece of Daffodil Delight colored DSP from the Waves of the Ocean DSP and fussy cut the image. I cut a 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of black and white DSP from the Pattern Party DSP. Lastly, my sentiment from the Rainbow of Happiness stamp set was heat embossed on Basic Black card stock using Versamark and white embossing powder.
Putting it all together: The black and white DSP piece was adhered to the Basic White rainbow embossed piece, Stampin’ Dimensionals were placed on the back of this combined piece and attached to a standard Pool Party card base. The sun piece was adhered to the back of the cloud and this new combined piece was attached to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I tied a bow with the Poppy Parade striped twine from the Fan Bakers Twine package and attached it to the back of the sentiment with a Mini Glue Dot. Two Stampin’ Dimensionals were layered on the left side of the sentiment and a strip of adhesive added to the right side, then the whole piece was attached to the front of the card.
I can’t believe I didn’t add anymore bling to my card! The Shimmery White Embossing Paste seemed to add just enough bling to this project.
