Around the World on Wednesday – December 2020
Welcome to December’s Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! I can’t believe that this is the last month this year for our AWOW Blog Hop. We will, however, be hopping again next year bringing back some old favorite themes and some brand new themes. Thanks again to our dear friend Angie McKenzie for coordinating this blog hop and being willing to take it on another year.
Something New, Something Old is our general theme for the December 2020 Blog Hop. This month I used old techniques with beautiful new products and non-traditional color and design to create Christmas cards. I’m so curious to see what our other talented team members come up with so don’t forget to join me in following the links below.
I used the Poinsettia Petal Bundle and the Winter Snow Embossing Folder on this month’s card. I started by cutting a standard sized A2 base using colored cardstock. Then I cut a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of matching colored cardstock and embossed it using the Winter Snow Embossing Folder. From the Poinsettia Dies, I cut and embossed 1 large Poinsettia, 2 medium poinsettias, and 3 small leaves from Whisper White cardstock. On the Whisper White poinsettias I used the ink matching the base and card front to daub some color onto the centers. Then I cut and embossed 5 small poinsettias in the same color cardstock matching the base and card front. The last piece is a sentiment from the Poinsettia Petal Photopolymer Stamp Set stamped onto black cardstock using Versamark. This piece was then heat embossed using White Embossing Powder.
When putting it all together, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the card front to the base and the Whisper White poinsettias to the card front. The leaves and small colored cardstock poinsettias were attached using glue dots. Then the sentiment was attached with dimensionals. Snowflake Sequins were attached last using the Fine-tip Glue Pen. For the finishing touch, I spritzed the card front with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.
Although there were a lot of pieces to this card, I thought it would be fun to see it with different color combinations. I made three using non-traditional Christmas colors; Pool Party, Blushing Bride, and Soft Sea Foam. Then I did three more in Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, and Gray Granite but this time using Cherry Cobbler ink for the the centers on all three. The shimmer paint really makes the Whisper White poinsettias stand out, I wish the pictures could do it justice.

So beautiful!!! Love the variety of colors that you tried… but I must admit, you had me at Soft Sea Foam! The touch of snowflake sequins is delightful to this snow lover! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you Angie! I think Soft Sea Foam is my favorite too.

Oh I love these. I love that you’ve not stamped the flowers but simply die cut the shapes x
