Around the World on Wednesday – October 2020
Welcome to October’s Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! The theme this month is “The World Around us”. We will be drawing inspiration from what is happening in our lives or things around us. This will be different for all of us as we all have different events going on in our lives all over the world. As always, I’m so excited to see what this team comes up with!
Just as last month, I had family event that inspired my projects for the October Blog Hop. My eldest daughter was married on October 2nd! So, September was a very busy month for me. I was so pleased to be asked to create invitations, wedding favors, announcements, and thank you cards. My daughter’s love of sunflowers inspired all of my projects, the wedding bouquet and decor. This was also another great excuse to get more use from one of my favorite bundles in the annual catalog, the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle.
This month I’m sharing the cards I made to send to the wedding guests. Both cards started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I used water painters and the Bumblebee Classic Stampin’ Pad to create a watercolor technique background, then added flecks from the Bumblebee Stampin’ Write Marker. When dry, the larger Shimmery White cardstock piece was adhered to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. I used the sunflower, leaves and flower center dies to cut the pieces from Bumblebee, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede cardstock to adhere to the shimmery White card fronts. For some extra shimmer, I spritzed the card fronts with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. The sentiments were stamped on Early Espresso cardstock using Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder, then fussy cut.
Putting it altogether: For first card I used a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that had been dry embossed with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing folder and adhered it to a Whisper White Thick cardstock base. I attached the smaller card front to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The front of the second card was also attached to the Whisper White Thick cardstock base, but for this card I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The final touches were added; Pearl Basic Jewels, ribbon, and Linen Thread bows adhered and the sentiments attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Supplies and tools used are posted below.
