Global Design Project Challenge #GDP335
I don’t always have time to enter challenges, but this week’s GDP theme challenge kind of fell nicely into my schedule. This week’s challenge, Global Design Project (GDP) Challenge #335, is a theme challenge; Rain / Rainbow.
My card features the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle; Rainbow of Happiness stamp set and the Brilliant Rainbow Dies. For a little shimmer I used Shimmery White cardstock and the Ombre 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper. My color palette is: Basic Black, Basic White, Sahara Sand, Bumblebee, and Pool Party.
The prep: I started by using a water painter and Bumblebee ink to watercolor on a 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock and set it aside to dry. Pool Party ink was added to a scrap of Basic White cardstock with a blending brush, then clouds were die cut from this piece. I die cut the rainbow trim from Basic Black cardstock and the rainbow from the Ombre Specialty Paper. The negative from the rainbow was trimmed to frame it. A 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Sahara Sand cardstock was dry embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. Lastly, my sentiment was heat embossed on Basic Black card stock using Versamark and white embossing powder and I cut out each word separately.
Putting it all together: The dry embossed piece was adhered to a standard sized Sahara Sand card base. The Basic Black rainbow trim was attached to the water colored piece, then the entire piece was attached to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The rainbow was also attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I separated the strands of a couple short pieces of white twine and attached them with tear tape to the back of the larger cloud and attached the larger cloud piece to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The remaining pieces were added using a combination of Stamin’ Dimensionals and Mini Glue Dots. The final elements added were the Artistry Blooms Adhesive-backed Sequins.
