Global Design Project Challenge #GDP300
I was on a roll last weekend and created several cards! When I saw this week’s Global Design Project (GDP) Challenge #300, I knew I could use some of my leftover pieces to CASE the lovely card below created by GDP team member Steffi Helmschrott from Germany.
Here’s how I created the water color pieces: I chose to use Real Red, Poppy Parade, and Petal Pink. Then using a Water Painter, I dropped ink onto a full piece of the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and spritzed the ink drops with water. I did a couple of layers allowing the paper to dry in between. The result was a 5″x7″ piece of water colored paper that I was able to use for multiple projects.
The card front panel, in which I place all of my elements, is a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Basic White cardstock. In the top 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ section of the card front panel I stamped leaf images using Versamark in opposite corners and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Then, I adhered the panel to a 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of striped DSP from the Pattern Party Host DSP.
From the water colored paper, I cut out a 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece. Then I attached a piece of an adhesive sheet to it and cut a large detailed sunflower out with the Sunflower Dies. Then, I cut a second large detailed sunflower from Basic White cardstock without any adhesive.
I used the white sunflower detail piece as a guide for the placement of the water colored petals on the Basic White piece. Once all the petals were placed, I removed the guide, cut out the center of the white detailed sunflower and attached it to the center of the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
My card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic White cardstock, scored and folded at 5 1/2″. I attached the card front to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My sentiment is stamped with Versamark onto a 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Lastly, I attached the sentiment with more Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a few adhesive backed sequins.
Many thanks to Steffi Helmschrott and the Global Design Project Team for their inspiration!

Loved this card so much that I cased it. I need to work on getting my water colors down. I ended up with pretty much a sold color but went ahead and proceeded and so far so good. Thank you SO much for sharing your talent and cards. Such an inspiration.
