Around the World on Wednesday – July 2022

Welcome to July’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme for July is CAS(e) a Team Member. Our fabulous organizer, Angie McKenzie, is also challenging us with a twist that encourages us to get to know our fellow team members better.

Angie randomly selected Cazz Boylan from Australia for my CAS(e)! The twist is that we need to contact the person we are CAS(e)ing by message, FaceTime, or some other way and “interview” them. The hardest part for me was finding a time that would work for both me and Cazz because of my busy schedule and our 18 hour time difference. Cazz and I finally met via FaceTime this last weekend and we chatted about many things for almost an hour. She is truly the most lovely person!

The inspiration for my card this month is a lovely card Cazz posted last July on her Instagram account. I loved her use of bright, bold colors which emphasize the festive and merry feeling this holiday evokes. This also worked well for me as I was looking to use some new products with a Christmas theme. Below is the card I chose to CAS(e).

Cazz’s card and love for “girly” colors inspired my project and color choices. My card features the Trees For Sale stamp set from the new 2022 July-December Mini Catalog and the Tree Lot Dies from the 2022 July-August Sale-a-bration Catalog. The color palette for my card is: Basic White, Orchid Oasis, Tahitian Tide, and Parakeet Party.

The Prep: I started by cutting a standard sized Basic White card base. Then I cut a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White cardstock and die cut it using the Dots & Spots die. On a piece of Fluid 100 5″ x 7″ Watercolor Paper I layered on Orchid Oasis, Tahitian Tide, and Parakeet Party ink with a Water Painter and let it dry between layers. Then I cut die cut trees using the Tree Lot Dies. I also die cut stars with the Happy Forest Dies from the Orchid Oasis color of the 2022-2024 In Color 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper. Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment with Versamark and white embossing powder on a 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Orchid Oasis cardstock and fussy cut it to size.

Putting it all together: I attached the die cut Dots & Spots piece to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered a piece of White 3/4″ Frayed Ribbon across the front of the card. Then, I attached the stars to the tree tops. The trees were arranged and attached the to the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. An Orchid Oasis Bakers Twine faux bow was attached to the back of the sentiment and the sentiment was attached to the card front with more Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The last element is a few splatters of Wink of Stella to the card front.
