Around the World on Wednesday – January 2025
Welcome to January’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme this month is “This or That”. Come hop with us to see what this is all about and to see all of the amazing projects created!
For my “This or That” projects I used the Beautiful Bokeh Suite Collection. This collection features bold and bright colors, I really went bold. For both cards I started with using the Beautiful Butterflies Dies and cut the large butterfly shape and the large detailed butterfly from Basic Black cardstock. Then I used the large detailed butterfly die to cut two butterflies each from Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist, and Lemon Lolly. All detailed butterfly cuts were made with adhesive sheets attached to the cardstock, including the Basic Black piece. The black detailed butterflies were adhered to the black butterfly shape. Then all the colored butterfly detail pieces were hand placed into the negative spaces of the black detailed butterflies.
The difference between the two cards are just the card bases. For my black card I used a Basic Black card base. I used a Basic Black card front piece that was dry embossed with he Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder, then I flecked the ink from a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush over the top and let it dry.
My second card’s card base is Granny Apple Green. The card front is stamped with images from the Beautiful Butterflies Photopolymer Stamp Set with Granny Apple Green ink. Then, I flecked ink over the top with a Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker.
Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to adhere the cardfront to the base, the die cut butterflies to the card front and the sentiments to the card front. The sentiment also comes from the same stamp set. On these projects, I embellished them with Gold Twisted Thread, Transparent Adhesive-Backed Dots, and Iridescent Foil Gems. Which version do you prefer?

I’m always a big fan of inlaying die cuts like this. The effect with the black base is well worth the time! While I do like the Granny Apple Green base and stamping, I think the black base has more drama so it’s my pick from two gorgeous cards. 🙂
