Around the World on Wednesday – May 2020

Welcome to May’s Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! This month we are sharing inspiration using our favorite coloring tools. In addition to our talented charter member line up, we are joined by special guest Emma Goddard from the UK!

I love the look of water colored images and there are several techniques you can use to obtain that look. This month I chose to work with the Aqua Painter. For my card, I used the Poppy Parade Classic Stampin’ Pad and squeezed it while the case was closed to get a good amount of ink on the lid. I used an Aqua Painter to water down the ink from the lid and applied the watered down ink directly to my chosen stamp. Then, I stamped the image onto Whisper White card stock. The intensity of the color depends on how much you dilute the ink. The Painted Poppies Cling Stamp Set includes a water color texture image (this is why I didn’t feel the need to use water color paper) which works so well with the line art poppy to create the look I was seeking.

Here is what I did to put it all together: I stamped four images in a row using this technique. Once dry, I used Versamark and Shimmer Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder to stamp and heat emboss the line art poppy images on top of the water color images. I also used Versamark and white embossing powder to stamp and heat emboss my sentiment from Peaceful Moments Cling Stamp set on black card stock.

The card front was was embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I cut the stamped piece of card stock to remove excess blank space and to fit my card front. The sentiment was fussy cut into word and phrase pieces, then attached to the stamped piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Peaceful Poppies Sequins were also glued in a random pattern to the stamped piece. A narrow strip of Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (DSP) was cut to fit the card front. Both the stamped piece and the narrow piece of DSP were attached to the card front. The card front was attached to the card base using more Stampin’ Dimensionals.
