Around the World on Wednesday – July 2021

Welcome to July’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme this month is “CAS(e) a Team Member” and I’m CAS(e)ing Cheryl Hamilton from Hawaii.

To find inspiration for this CAS(e), I visited Cheryl’s blog . One of my favorite recent AWOW hops was the Monochrome Challenge from April 2021; both Cheryl and I were tasked with the use of the color red. I love the technique, colors and stamp set Cheryl used. Here is the card I used for inspiration.

I chose three of the colors used by Cheryl; Real Red, Poppy Parade, and Petal Pink. Using a Water Painter, I dropped ink onto a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and spritzed the drops with water. I did a couple layers and let the paper dry in between.

Once completely dry, I decided not to emboss an image and chose, instead, to die cut my sunflower. On a section of the water color paper I attached a piece of an adhesive sheet and cut a large detailed sunflower out with the Sunflower Dies. Then, I cut a second one from Basic White cardstock without any adhesive.

For the first card, I used the white sunflower detail piece as a guide for the placement of the water colored petals on a Basic White panel. Then I cut out the center of the white sunflower and attached it to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the second card, I attached the outlined water colored piece to a Basic White panel that was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

Both card fronts were brushed with Wink of Stella and attached to a Basic White card base. The sentiments were stamped with Versamark, heat embossed with white embossing powder, fussy cut and attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
