Around the World on Wednesday – February 2022
Welcome to February’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme this month is “Basic Essentials”. What do basic essentials mean to you? To me they are those items or techniques that seem to be my “go to” items. Things that I tend to use quite a bit are bakers twine, heat embossed sentiments, and some bling. It doesn’t matter if I’m trying to create a simple card or if I’m creating an avid card, they always seem to find their way into my project.
My AWOW project this month features new products from the new mini catalog: Artfully Layered Bundle, Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper (DSP), and Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. My color palette is Basic White, Basic Black, Calypso Coral, and Old Olive.
The Prep: I started by die cutting a few pieces from the Tropical Layered Dies; leaves from Old Olive and a leaf and border from Calypso Coral. The leaf pieces were attached together in a stack. Next I cut a 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ piece from the Artfully Composed DSP. On a 1″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Basic Black card stock, I heat embossed my sentiment with Versamark and white embossing powder and trimmed the ends at an angle. I attached the Calypso Coral border piece to the bottom of the sentiment, then attached a faux bow to the back of the sentiment piece.
Putting it all together: The piece of DSP was attached to the lower left of a standard Basic White card base. Then I attached the die cut stack. The sentiment piece was attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the final touch was to add the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Nothing like the essential embellishments to complete a card! Love it! Thanks for sharing and for hopping around the world with us, Teri! x
Fabulous card Teri
Love this card, that dsp is just stunning.
Very pretty
Love how you used your ‘essentials’
I like your layered up leaf die cuts. You can’t beat a white-on-black embossed sentiment – so striking against the profusion of tropical plants. Great card!
