Around the World on Wednesday – September 2023
Welcome to September’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme for September is “Let’s Take A Walk”. The AWOW Blog Hop team has come up with some amazing projects with their interpretation of this theme!
For this month’s theme I wanted to create something that gives you the feel of a Winter walk in the woods at night. There is something so peaceful and calm when the snow is falling. The contrast of the dark sky and the white snow is just beautiful and I love the sparkle when light hits the snow. I hope I have captured that feeling with my project.
My project is features a super easy watercolor technique as well as the Forever Forest Bundle and a sentiment from the Merry & Bright Photopolymer Stamp Set. The color palette for my project is: Night of Navy, Highland Heather and Crumb Cake.
Paper:
- 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Night of Navy card stock, scored and folded at 4 1/4” (card base)
- 3 1/2” x 5” piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper (card front piece)
- Basic White Thick cardstock scraps
- Highland Heather cardstock scrap
Instructions:
- Ink a large acrylic plate with Night of Navy ink and spritz with water. Then lay the watercolor paper on top of the acrylic plate ensuring the entire sheet of paper is covered with ink. It may require that you repeat the process to cover the paper completely. Let dry.
- Die cut trees from the Basic White Thick cardstock
- Stamp sentiment with Versamark on a piece of Highland Heather cardstock and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Fussy cut around the sentiment.
- Once the water colored card front piece is dry, stamp trees image with Whisper White Ink, then add flecks of slightly watered down Whisper White ink with a paint brush. Let dry.
- Once dry, adhere die cut trees to the card front piece and add the sentiment with Stamping Dimensionals.
- Attach the card front piece to the card base with Stamping Dimensionals
- Attach Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels

Nothing like snow falling in a winter night sky! Must be breathtaking in Alaska! I love that you did the smoosh technique with an acrylic plate – more coverage for sure! Thanks for the inspiration as always. x

What a super card! Lovely contrast of light and dark and I like the way your splatters suggest snow.
