Around the World on Wednesday – October 2022
Welcome to October’s Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop! Our theme for October is a “Sketch Challenge”. I may have mentioned before that I just love a sketch challenge. It challenges me to come up with creative ideas, sometimes I’m a bit more creative than others. I just love seeing how everyone interprets the sketches and the fun techniques they used.
I have been playing with the Joyful Flurry Bundle lately and today I’m sharing a second card I made for a sketch challenge using this bundle. I used both the Joyful Flurry Cling Stamp Set and the Frosted Flurries Dies. The color palette for my project is: Basic White, Starry Sky, Fresh Freesia, and Tahitian Tide.
Paper Supplies:
- 4″ x 8″ piece of Basic White Thick cardstock, scored and folded at 4″ (card base)
- 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Starry Sky cardstock (layering square)
- 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of 2022-2024 In Color Designer Series Paper (DSP), Starry Sky
- Cardstock scraps of Basic White, Fresh Freesia, Starry Sky, and Tahitian Tide
The Prep: I die cut snowflakes from scraps of Fresh Freesia and Tahitian Tide. I also die cut a large partial pop-up snowflake from a scrap of Basic White cardstock and then cut it out using a circle die from the Layering Circles Dies. Next I heat embossed the sentiment using Versamark and white embossing powder on a scrap of Starry Sky cardstock and cut it to my desired size.
Putting it all together: I attached the Starry Sky layering square to the card base, then roughed up the edges of the Starry Sky DSP and attached it on top of the Starry Sky layering square. The large circle piece was attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the snowflakes were attached with mini glue dots. The sentiment was attached with a Stampin’ Dimensional on the left and Stampin’ Seal where it covers the large circle piece. I added some Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels to the centers of the snowflakes and a couple below the sentiment. Lastly, I attached a bow made with the Silver Simply Elegant Trim using another mini glue dot.

This is such a stinking cute card!! Love the colour combination you have chosen x
Genius … Snowflakes, of course, they’d work so well and you’ve so clearly shown. Gorgeous card x
Fun and funky card Teri … love your take on the sketch. xxx
So cheerful. This one just makes me smile
Love the use of the dsp as your horizontal stripes!!!
This is such a fun interpretation of the sketch. I love the layers of distressed dsp at the base and I think that wee pop of Fresh Freesia is inspired.
Wow Teri I have the feeling that you like these flakes very much ^^. Very nice creation in any case, thank you for sharing! Xx
