Around the World on Wednesday – June 2021
Welcome to June’s Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! Our theme this month is “Step it Up”. This month I focused on taking a simple stamping card and adding elements and using other tools to give the basic design texture and dimension.
I used the Hand-Penned Suite Collection, one of my new faves, for my projects. The great thing about the product suites is that you get a group of products that coordinate and make “stepping up” projects super simple. My color palette this month is: Highland Heather, Garden Green, Pale Papaya, and Basic White.
Beginner Stamper (Simple Stamping)
With Simple Stamping projects all that is needed are stamps, ink, and paper. My Beginner card starts with the following:
- Highland Heather Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
- Basic White Cardstock: 3″ x 5 1/2″
- Pale Papaya Cardstock: 1″ x 1 3/4″
The card base is scored at 4 1/2″ and folded in half. The Hand-Penned Photopolymer Stamp Set perfect for the two step stamping technique because it includes line art and solid stamps. I stamped the floral line art image twice, once in one direction and once in the opposite direction, on the piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I stamped the solid flower images with Highland Heather and Pale Papaya ink. The leaves were stamped with Garden Green ink. I stamped the sentiment on the piece of Pale Papaya cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The pieces of this card were simply adhered to the card base using Stampin’ Seal.
Casual Stamper
My Casual Stamper card started with the same pieces of cardstock as the above, but I added the following elements:
- Designer Series Paper (DSP): 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- White Twine
- Sequins
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
The pieces to this card were also made the same as the beginner card, except that I adhered the piece of DSP to the card front before attaching the other elements. I also wrapped white twine around the Basic White piece and tied a bow. The stamped pieces were attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals instead of Stampin’ Seal and sequins were added.
Avid Stamper
My Avid Stamper card uses all the bells and whistles. I added the use of a 3D embossing folder and Dies. I started with the same card base and the same sized cardstock for the sentiment that were used in the two previous cards, then added the following:
- DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Highland Heather Cardstock: 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
- Vellum Scraps
- Garden Green Cardstock Scraps
- Basic White Cardstock Scraps
I completed my stamping first; the sentiment on the Pale Papaya cardstock and two of the floral images on Basic White cardstock. The floral images were die cut with the Penned Flowers Dies, as well as a two detail floral dies from vellum and leaves from Garden Green cardstock. The smaller piece of Highland Heather cardstock was dry embossed using the Bark 3D Embossing Folder. Before adhering the DSP to the card base I distressed the edges. I wrapped the White Twine around the embossed piece, tied a bow, and attached it to the card base with Stampin’ Dimentionals. The vellum pieces and leaves were attached with glue dots, vellum on the bottom. The floral die cut pieces were attached on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The last two items added were the sentiment and sequins. The sentiment actually has a Stampin’ Dimensional on one end and Stampin’ Seal on the other.

These cards are amazing! I love them. I think you nailed the beginner stamper by showing how much can be achieved with just stamp, ink and paper which is the really hard bit of simple stamping.
