Around the World on Wednesday – January 2021
Welcome to January’s Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! I’m so excited that the AWOW Blog Hop Team is back hopping again this year. A huge thanks to Angie McKenzie for her efforts coordinating the hop again. This month we are sharing our favorite inspiration sources. I get my inspiration from so many places. Of course new Stampin’ Up!® products and catalogs play a big part, however I do look to other sources such as technique and color trends, nature, or even just what is going on around us: art, home decor, and fashion.
This month I incorporated new products from the mini catalog and the Sale-a-bration catalog along with some annual catalog products. One of my favorite sources of inspiration was used to create this card; a recent sketch challenge.
I started by cutting a 4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Basic White cardstock. I used washi tape and post it notes paper to mask off sections in order to create the stripes of Soft Seafoam ink. The ink was applied using the Blending Brushes. A 1″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Paper Blooms DSP was adhered to the left hand side of the striped cardstock and that piece was then attached to the right hand side of a standard sized A2 base of Old Olive cardstock. This left a 1/4″ of the Old Olive card base exposed at the fold.
Then I cut a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Soft Seafoam cardstock and embossed it using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. A piece of linen thread was wrapped around the Soft Seafoam piece and tied with a square knot and the ends frayed. The Soft Seafoam piece was attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals leaving 1/4″ of the DSP visible on the left.
From the Pierced Blooms Dies, I cut several leaves from Old Olive cardstock and attached them to the Soft Seafoam piece. My sentiment is from the Forever Fern cling stamps and was heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I cut the sentiment out using the Stitched Shapes Dies and this piece was also attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The final touches were to add another leaf piece to the sentiment and scattered Elegant Faceted Gems.
